Thank You for the Music
Thank You for the Music
Formed in Stockholm, Sweden in 1972, ABBA—Agnetha Fältskog, Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson, and Anni-Frid Lyngstad—became one of the most successful pop groups of all time after they won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1974 with Waterloo. This launched an international career that produced chart-topping hits such as Dancing Queen and Take a Chance on Me. Their enduring popularity inspired the stage musical Mamma Mia! and its hit film adaptations, introducing their music to new generations. In 2010 they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and in 2021 they released their first new studio album in four decades, Voyage. ABBA has solidified their place as one of the most renowned and commercially successful music groups in history.
“...And I've often wondered, how did it all start? Who found out that nothing can capture a heart like a melody can?”
Thank You for the Music is an anthem of gratitude, celebrating the joy and connection that song brings to our lives. With its warm harmonies and uplifting spirit, this classic reminds us why ABBA’s music continues to resonate across generations. With 31 seasons of pride, joy, and music under our belt, AVOP chose Thank You for the Music to express our gratitude to the members who came before us that allows us to continue their legacy and bring music to the Capital Region.
